The Rogues and Rascals, are based in the cooler region of Great Southern in Western Australia. Famed vinegrowers and winemakers, they really know their crafts when it comes to producing great quality wine. Byron and Harold Estate, who produce this Shiraz, were awarded a top 5 star rating by James Halliday in 2017.
Cool pre-fermentation maceration of the fruit to enhance the aromatics of the Shiraz grape. Fermentation at 25 degrees C with the juice pumped twice daily over the grape skins to extract colour and flavour. After fermentation the wine was transferred to barrels for malolactic fermentation and ageing. After 15 months ageing the wine was fined naturally with egg whites and bottled.
Our Rogues and Rascals wines are exclusive to Grape Passions and produced by Byron and Harold Estate in Western Australia. The winery is owned by Paul Byron and Harold (Ralph) Dunning and its focus is to make wines from Western Australia that reflect their providence. The Rogues and Rascals Shiraz is sourced from the Great Southern grape growing area, cooled by ocean breezes, producing a style of Shiraz that is cool climate and beautifully balanced. Little wonder that Byron and Harold have been awarded a 5 star rating by James Halliday and named as one of his Top 10 New Wineries for 2015, they were upgraded to a 5 Red Star winery for 2017.
