The Lurton family have a long family history in the wine business dating back to the 1800’s. In the 1980’s brothers Jacques and François Lurton who were initially wine merchants bought vineyards and built their own wineries in Languedoc, Spain, Argentina, Chile and Portugal. The brothers set up their own team of oenologists in each country, and used grapes from their own or contracted vineyards and began creating and selling their own wines. In 2007, François took over his brother’s stake in the company, becoming the sole majority shareholder in the company, which was subsequently renamed François Lurton S.A. Under his management, the estates continue to reveal their enormous potential and have produced wines classed among the best in the company’s history.
