Unique to South Africa, this oak aged Pinotage is rich, with crushed strawberry fruit flavours, notes of vanilla and soft ripe tannins.
Wonderful with barbequed red meats and spicy sausages. Also amazing with Teriyaki vegetables.
Rich with red berry fruit, as well as soft ripe tannins with an undertow of oak. This Pinotage has waves of strawberries and other red berries followed by notes of dark chocolate and oak spice on the finish.
Pinotage is a native grape variety from South Africa originating from a cross between Pinot Noirr and Cinsault. The wine is fermented on skins for 7 days with regular aeration to help soften tannins. After pressing, the wine is matured on French oak for 3 months and then bottled.
For over 70 years, Douglas Green Wines have sourced and selected grapes to best express the South African wine land origins. In 1942, Douglas Green was already convinced that the quality and character of the varied vineyards of the Western Cape should not be confined, but rather combined to express the best of each region. They source only the best vineyards and growers from the best-suited regions for each variety to create their distinctive fruit-driven signature style wines.
