This Pinot Grigio has real flavour and character, notes of pear, apple and nectarine, along with citrus and light minerality.
Great with seafood, shellfish, herb roasted chicken or just by itself.
We first discovered the wines of Muzic while eating in a local seafood restaurant close to Venice. Very impressed with the quality of their wines we could not resist adding them to our growing Italian portfolio. Muzic is a family winery situated in the Italian Collio wine D.O.C., close to the Slovenia border. The Collio area is renowned for the high quality of its white wines, which are amongst the finest to be found in Italy. The hillside vineyards have good exposure to the sun, and at night time temperatures significantly drop, helping to promote aromatic complexity in the wines. Muzic is run by Ivan and Orieta and their two sons. The family own 18 hectares of vineyards in the Collio area and 2 hectares in Friuli Isonzo close by. The vines are sustainably farmed and the winery, which dates back to the 16th century, has been thoroughly modernised. What we liked about their wines was their purity and sense of place.
Hand harvested grapes are soft pressed and the juice cool fermented in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is then aged on its fine lees for around four months to increase the richness and complexity of the wine, and bottled the following spring.
