Culemborg is a harbour town in Holland where a gentleman called Jan Van Riebeeck was born. Riebeeck went on to set up the Dutch East India company in South Africa, the company provided refreshment to traders. Riebeeck planted the first vines in the Cape which gave rise to the flourishing South African wine industry we all know so well today. Our Culemborg wines are named in tribute to Riebeecks’ place of birth.
