This rich wine has delicate perfume, ripe tannins and layers of plum, raisins and spice flavours. Dazzling red cherry purity, liquorice and leathery intensity with a lot of energy, depth and fine tannins.
Grapes undergo stainless steel maceration in controlled temperatures for about 8 days. Malolactic fermentation then follows adding richness and complexity to the final wine. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 7-8 months before a further 2 months in bottle, prior to release. Aged in stainless steel for 8 months and a further 2 months in bottle before sale.
Marengo Mauro is a family winery whose origins go back over 50 years when Francesco Mauro bough vineyards in the commune of Novello just S.W. of Barolo. Later vineyards were also purchased in Barolo. In total the family farm 11 hectares of vineyards, and originally used to sell their grapes to other wineries, however in 2015 they decided to make and bottle their own wine. So far the results have been impressive and their wines have received numerous awards.
