Albarino is one of Spain`s most highly prized white grape varieties; deliciously crisp with white peach fruit flavours.
Wonderful with fresh fish and seafood or Asian inspired dishes.
The Albarino grape is one of Spain`s most highly prized white wine varieties. The best area for growing Albarino is in the Rias Baixas area of Galicia just above the border with Portugal. This example is a high quality, single vineyard Albarino from a family producer and is made from low yielding grapes and only with juice from the grapes first pressing. The resulting Albarino is a crisp minerally wine with real character, rounded in style with lifted flavours of white peach. One of the best examples we have tasted.
Gentle pressing of the grapes with only best juice used from the first pressing. Cool temperature controlled fermentation and ageing on fine lees to add richness followed by ageing in tank and early bottling to maintain freshness.
Situated in Rías Baixas, Albariño Veiga da Princesa vineyard totals 18 ha and has been dedicated to the Albariño variety for 15 year. Marcos Gonzalez Diaz uses modern trellising techniques, opposed to the typical arbor system of the area, this opens up the canopy of the vine and improves air circulation, which consequently means his grapes ripen better and require less treatments in the vineyard. The Winery is located in Arbo, Pontevedra; where the wines are produced and bottled with the most advanced techniques. The wine is made exclusively with grapes provided by a single estate or property, the high quality is due to the professional management of the vineyard and its uniform quality.
