A beautiful, oak aged Rioja. Rich and velvety with notes of vanilla and spice and well balanced red fruit flavours.
Goes well red meats, Indian dishes and game.
From the winery Bodegas del Medievo in Aldeanueva de Ebro in the Rioja Baja district this Rioja is made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes. Around 10% of the wine is aged in oak which gives Rioja Cofrade a more rounded supple character, which can often be lacking in young Rioja. For this reason this wine has some of the hallmarks of a more premium Crianza Rioja, but without the price tag! A beautifully soft, smooth modern, easy drinking Tempranillo, rich and velvety with a lovely rounded, mellow character.
In October, after 12 days temperature controlled maceration in stainless steel vats, the wine is transferred to a fermentation tank where it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation. It is then clarified, stabilised and filtered and sits in the vat until it is bottled.
The vineayards of Bodegas del Medievo extend to the highest part of Aldeanueva de Ebro. Taking advantage of the land areas with very poor of quality and little depth, which are ideal conditions for the growth of extremly good quality grapes.
