Chateau La Croix Meunier is a small property only 3 hectares in size, situated just west of the village of St Emilion. The average age of the vines is over 30 years old and the vineyards are worked in a sustainable environmentally friendly way, avoiding the use of herbicides. Typically the grape variety Merlot dominates the final blend of the wine at around 70%, and 30% Cabernet Franc. All grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted prior to fermentation. Chateau La Croix Meunier offers consumers a high quality affordable Gran Cru St Emilion. Very attractive with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and black fruits.
Long fermentation on skins between 2 to 3 weeks with pumping over to aid extraction. The final wine is aged in a mixture of oak barriques between 1 to 3 years old for 12 months. Following final blending the wine is further aged in bottle before release.
Chateau La Croix Meunier belongs to the 5th generation of the Meunier family (going back to 1840). This miniscule estate of 3 hectares is located in the north-west of Saint-Emilion near Chateaux Figeac and Cheval Blanc.
