A rich, structured Barolo, with elegance and poise, and full, harmonious flavours.
Recommended with venison, game and red meat and mature hard cheeses.
Marengo Mauro is a small family estate only 11 hectares in size, they use only native vines. Their Barolo is rich, yet wonderfully balanced in style, aged in barrique to give it added softness and complexity.
Hand harvested grapes are fermented in stainless steel for around 20 days to extract colour and flavour. The resulting wine is then aged for around 36 to 40 months in barrique before being blended and bottled and aged for a further 6 months before release. The use of barriques for ageing the Barolo helps to craft a more approachable style of wine which achieved richness yet maintaining a silky edge.
A small family run business whose first vineyards were planted in the territory of Novello over 50 years ago by Francesco Marengo. They gradually expanded to become a wine growing estate and now produce and sell their own wines.
