A fabulous rich red, with brambly fruit flavours with notes of ground coffee and spices.
A good match with game, red meats, and hard cheeses.
Aneto wines come from the heart of the Douro and the winery is based in Alijo. A recent new comer in the Douro, Aneto was founded in 2001 by winemaker Francisco Montenegro. A small boutique producer, Aneto is establishing itself as one of the most exciting rising stars in the Douro. By using traditional Portuguese grape varieties combined with modern winemaking techniques and the careful use of oak, the wines are fruit driven in style and highly recommended. Aneto Tinto centres upon using the traditional grape varieties of the area such as Touriga Nacional. The final wine is aged in French oak and is rich with brambly fruit flavours with notes of ground coffee and spices.
The final wine was aged for 12 months in a mixture of new and older oak barrels.
Situated in Sobradais and Malvêdos in Alijó district, the Douro Valley`s heart, the Sobredos is a family enterprise created in 2001 with the purpose of producing, bottling, and commercialising small volumes of high quality wines. Different varieties are separated from each other within their 7ha of adult vines. The first harvest to be bottled was Aneto red 2002, three years later they introduced a sweet white wine - Aneto Colheita Tardia (Late Harvest). The first Aneto red, Grande Reserve, was vinified in 2006, followed by the first Aneto white in 2007, and in 2008 the first Aneto white Reserve was released.
