Grape Passions Producer Information
Rymill
Region: Australia
Description:
Far down in the south of Australia runs a narrow limestone ridge, less than 20 miles long and one mile wide, which is covered with a unique red, 'terra rossa' soil. Over the past two centuries this tract of land has been noted for the outstanding quality of its throughbred horses and for wine grapes of exceptional flavour.
The Rymill family has long been associated with both sources of excellence. Peter Rymill's great-grandfather established the Coonawarra vineyards on this same 'terra rossa' in 1890. Today, its distinctive winery, which recently featured in Peter Richards' "Wineries with Style", and is recognised world-wide by two majestic bronze stallions rampant, the Rymill family presents elegant and classic wines tht reflect the perfect combination of unique soil and ideal climate for which the district has become renowned.
