Greyfriars Hotel, Colchester provided the ideal venue for our wine makers dinner with Marco Bergaglio of Castellari Bergaglio. Straight from completing harvest at his family run winery in Piedmont, Marco took us through a superb range of Gavi, starting off the evening with the delicious sparkling Gavi Arde Methodo Classico, a memorable first for many of us! Marco then introduced us to the differing styles of Gavi produced on the estate, regarded as one of the best in the business. We enjoyed the Gavi Salluvii, Gavi Rolona and Gavi Pilin perfectly matched with the fish risotto starter. Our main course of Chicken and mushroom in parma ham was accompanied by the sublime Barolo donna Bianca, and the evening was made complete with the special Gavium dessert wine.
